Books, in my opinion, are essential in life. You may not have time to pick up a book everyday, or even want to, but once you start reading, it opens your imagination. It helps you relieve the stress that you've built up that day as well as educate many people. It also brings together people who have common interests, which is symbolized by a book club. A book club can be as few as 2 or 3 people, or have an auditorium full of them, but the main thing is that they all have a common interest. It might be hard to find a good book club to join, but here are some tips that will help you out.
The first thing that you should do is start reading a lot of books. Get yourself educated a little bit, but the main idea is to find what kind of books you enjoy. You can tell when you can read a book for thirty minutes despite your surroundings; I personally was able to read a book for an hour straight despite being at a bowling alley.
Once you have figured out what kinds of books you are interested in, look for a book club, or even start one of your own. You can find book clubs at the nearest school, or simply ask your neighbors if they've heard of any good book clubs. If, in the end, you can't find one, make your own. Just look for a couple of people you know that enjoy the same kinds of books you do and have a similar schedule to yours so that you guys have time to meet. Then start meeting and eventually, others will hear about your book club and join too.
The most important part of having a good book club is choosing a good book. Try to stay away from books that is popular and go for some underrated books; this is to prevent other people from having read it as much as possible. That way, everyone will be on equal footing when reading the book and won't be afraid to share their ideas and motifs as well as themes that they have taken out of context.
Since it will be hard to continuously find good books, find at least a few in advance. Also, try reading the book slowly. If you can't help but read ahead, go for it, but try not to spoil the ending for others as well as not hint at any foreshadows in the book.
It will take some time to set up a good book club, but if you succeed, it will give you a good amount of satisfaction that you were able to carry out such an idea.
